Enhancing the performance
of public safety agencies.
Operating in licensed spectrum dedicated to police, fire, ambulance and municipal use, the 4.9 GHz feature provides priority traffic for data, video and voice communications ensuring that vital information reaches first responders in the case of emergency situations.
A licensed frequency requires that an organization obtain a license from a regional regulatory body to operate in a specific frequency. This greatly reduces the level of interference experienced in systems that utilize freely available unlicensed spectrum. Motorola has developed an ambitious plan to encourage and actively participate in the expansion of the 4.9 GHz band licensing throughout our region.
Several countries are currently working on obtaining the corresponding authorization. The 4.9 GHz licensed band is already available in the following countries:
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- Mexico
- Venezuela
Municipalities, county agencies and local governments alike will be able to leverage the reliable, cost effective and proven capabilities of wireless broadband in the 4.9 GHz in a virtually limitless array of applications:
- City or County Outdoor Wireless Video Surveillance Infrastructure
- Outdoor Traffic Control Infrastructure
- Leased Line Replacement for Municipalities
- Municipal Data Transfer, VoIP Connectivity
- Fixed and Mobile (where practical) Data Applications
- And much more…
Motorola solutions are supported by its current portfolio of proven capabilities in the 4.9 GHz band of wireless broadband, which include:
IAP 4300 operates with the licensed 4.9 GHz system providing client access to first responders, as well as meshed backhaul to create a private and secure network.
IAP 7300 Quattro offers MEA technology for public-safety and mission-critical needs, and standards-based Wi-Fi for public access. Plus it offers 2.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz radios in one access point for municipal deployments.
PTP 49600
The 600 Series of Point-to-Point wireless Ethernet bridges include both licensed and unlicensed solutions. The latest addition to the 2.5 and 4.5 GHz licensed bands is the 4.9 GHz especially reserved for Public Safety agencies and authorized companies, such as private ambulance services.
These bridges, offer high performance connectivity and backhaul in challenging non-line-of-sight environments. With data rates up to 300 Mbps and reaching distances up to 124 miles, this Series of high-performance and secure wireless bridges make cost effective connectivity and backhaul a reality for a wide range of enterprises, service providers and public safety organizations.
PMP 49400 Series
Operating in the 4.9 GHz licensed public safety band, the CAP 49400 and CSM 49400 use OFDM technology which provide near-line of sight (nLOS) performance, longer cyclic prefixes, and higher antenna solutions with connectivity that can be extended into urban areas with multi-path environments
The CAP 49400 and CSM 49400 provide longer-range connectivity up to 24 km (15 miles) and high throughput rates (up to 21 Mbps) to support bandwidth intensive services like video, data and multiple voice connections. Three modulation levels 64QAM, 16QAM, and QPSK are supported all with ¾ rate coding.
GPS synchronization, which significantly reduces self-interference and enables co-location applications with the existing Motorola Wireless Broadband network
The Motorola Wireless Broadband PMP system is a field-proven, secure, scalable wireless broadband solution comprised of an array of modules that can be configured to meet the unique needs of municipalities and municipal network operators.
